Principal's Message

Our mission at Wishon Elementary is to ensure our students are provided the tools to succeed both academically and socially. Wishon Staff is dedicated to the whole child by organizing and implementing academic, social, and emotional instruction that promotes growth and success for all students. We value learning, student accountability, positive behavior, and partnership with our community.

We strive to provide high quality instruction through the implementation of a Comprehensive Literacy Instructional Program. Our teachers plan purposeful text selections for reading, writing, and discussion as they integrate the learning of content and higher thinking skills. Students will be engaged with complex text and complex tasks as a part of their learning. Students will be demonstrating their learning in math, science, and social studies as they read expository and informational text and develop higher level thinking skills by analyzing and deconstructing works of fiction and nonfiction. Our goal is to prepare our students to improve academic performance at challenging levels, expand student centered and real work experiences, and increase student engagement in our school.

Our Wishon Staff recognizes the importance to develop a culture of connectedness between and among students, staff, parents, and the community through relationship building. Our staff truly cares about each child as an individual. We value the importance of building trust and relationships with our students in order for them to feel safe and comfortable to take risks and expand their learning. Through the implementation of Safe and Civil Schools initiatives and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, our school is a place where students respect and value diversity among one another.

Our students are able to engage in numerous after school activities and programs as well as taking educational field trips that reinforce the learning in the classroom. Our Wishon Community is essential to the success of our school. We encourage parents to attend family events & activities and volunteer to connect with our Wishon staff. Our amazing teachers and staff here at Wishon work hard to create an exceptional learning environment where students are valued and cared for every day.
